Each month we tell you which businesses we’re backing at the moment. For April, we’ve got three great companies for you to check out, and you can be sure each one is sustainable and a great choice for your green lifestyle.
Who Gives a Crap
That’s right, as everyone panic buys loo roll, we’ve found just the company to help. Who Gives a Crap says its toilet roll helps build toilets, and it’s 100% recycled. All of its products are environmentally friendly, and they donate 50% of profits to help build toilets for those in need. So far, they’ve donated just under £1.5million to charities and they operate a profit-for-purpose model, like ourselves, to try and encourage other start-ups to help worthy causes. So, next time you stock up on loo roll, check out their website here.
Next up is a clothing brand you might be familiar with, but did you know just how much this brand does for the environment? Since 1985 it has donated 1% of sales to the “preservation and restoration of the natural environment”, while its initiative Worn Wear allows buyers to extend the life of their clothing by sending in old items to be repaired and recycled. Its also branching out away from the clothing area in the US with Patagonia Provisions, offering organic and sustainably sourced foods. Its a company that creates its own campaigns, puts pressure on governments and funds environmentally focused projects. In short, it’s pretty amazing. Next time you’re looking for something to add to your wardrobe, check out their UK site here.
Bee’s Wrap offers a sustainable alternative to food storage, so you can ditch cling film and plastic wrappers for sustainable wraps made from beeswax, organic cotton, jojoba oil and tree resin. For us, supporting this American based company is a MUST. The company offers a double win, allowing you to eliminate wasteful plastic while also supporting the future of a healthy bee population, cleaner waterways and education on sustainable living. Check out their products here, but you can also find them on Amazon.
